Terms of service.
Last updated September 2026
The short version: use Puffy to care for your dog, be kind to the service, and don’t treat Puffy as a substitute for a vet. The longer version follows.
Who we are, and agreeing to these terms
Puffy is an iOS app and a website (puffy.pet), operated by Puffy Lab, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“Puffy”, “we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and Puffy Lab, LLC. Our registered address and company number are on the legal notice.
By creating an account or using the app or the website, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Puffy.
You must be 16 or older (13 or older in regions where that is the applicable minimum). Puffy is not directed at children. You are responsible for activity under your account — keep your device and your sign-in details safe.
What Puffy is — and isn’t
Puffy is a companion tool. It keeps records about your dog — a pet profile, health records, a care calendar, notes — and gives you calm, general guidance on everyday care.
Puffy is not veterinary care, and nothing in the app or on this site is veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment. Using Puffy does not create a veterinarian–client–patient relationship with anyone.
If your dog appears to be in distress, injured, or you suspect an emergency — contact a veterinarian or an emergency animal clinic immediately. Do not wait for, or rely on, the app. We have deliberately designed Puffy to tell you this, often.
Asky AI
Asky is an artificial-intelligence assistant. You are always talking to software, not to a person, and not to a licensed veterinarian.
Asky is designed to help you observe, understand and decide — and to point you to a real vet whenever there is uncertainty. It is deliberately built not to diagnose.
Like all AI systems, Asky can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Don’t rely on it as your only source of information about your dog’s health, and never use it to delay seeking professional care. The signs that mean go to a vet now, rather than open the app, are listed on the safety page.
Conversations with Asky are sent to an AI model provider to generate the answer, as described in our privacy policy. They are not used to train third-party AI models.
Subscriptions and billing
Some features require Puffy Plus, a paid subscription purchased through Apple’s App Store and managed via your Apple ID. Apple is the merchant of record for in-app purchases: billing, receipts and refunds follow Apple’s policies.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel anytime in your iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Deleting your Puffy account does not cancel an active subscription — only Apple can do that, in the same place.
If we change the price of an active subscription, you’ll be notified through the App Store and asked to agree before the new price applies to you.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK: statutory withdrawal rights for digital content and services apply as provided by law and by Apple’s purchase flow.
Your content
You own the data you put into Puffy — your dog’s profile, photos, notes and records. We claim no ownership of it.
So that the service can work, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, process, back up and display your content — solely to operate, secure and improve the service for you. This license ends when you delete your content or your account, except for residual copies in routine backups, which expire on our backup schedule.
Only upload content you have the right to upload.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Puffy without obligation to you — thank you, by the way.
Acceptable use
Don’t misuse the service. In particular, don’t:
- break, probe or overload the service, or bypass its security or rate limits;
- scrape the service or access it by automated means outside documented interfaces;
- reverse-engineer or copy the app or its models except where the law grants you that right;
- use Asky to generate content that is unsafe, unlawful, or that spreads misinformation about animal care;
- resell or commercialize the service without our written agreement.
Good-faith security research is welcome: report vulnerabilities to help@puffy.pet and give us reasonable time to fix them before disclosure. We will not pursue anyone who reports in good faith.
Puffy’s intellectual property
The app, the website, the Puffy and Asky names and logos, the design and the software are ours and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules, for your own non-commercial use. No other rights are granted.
Apple-specific terms
Because Puffy is distributed through the App Store, Apple requires the following, and it is worth stating plainly:
- This agreement is between you and us, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- We — not Apple — are solely responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide either. Support: help@puffy.pet.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever.
- We — not Apple — are responsible for any claim that the app or your use of it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, does not conform to consumer protection law, or gives rise to product liability.
- We — not Apple — are responsible for investigating and defending any claim that the app infringes someone else’s intellectual property.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Third-party services
The app is distributed through Apple’s App Store; Apple’s own terms also apply to your download and purchases.
Puffy relies on a small set of service providers — sign-in, email delivery, hosting, an AI model provider and, if you consent, analytics. Each one is named on the subprocessors page, and they act on our instructions.
Links to third-party sites or services are provided for convenience — we’re not responsible for their content or practices.
Disclaimers and liability
We build Puffy carefully, but the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the maximum extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, and our total liability for all claims relating to the service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in that period or 50 USD.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law — including, where applicable, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your non-waivable rights under consumer protection law. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the protections of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to the consumer protections below, the state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
Before going to court, please talk to us first — help@puffy.pet. Most issues are fixable in one email.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms occasionally. If we make a material change, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect; continuing to use Puffy after that means you accept the updated terms.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these rules, and we may retire the service or features with reasonable notice.
You can stop using Puffy at any time. To close your account and delete everything in it, follow the account deletion procedure — we finish within 30 days. Sections that by their nature should survive — your content license during wind-down, IP, disclaimers, liability, governing law — survive termination.
