Accessibility.

Last updated September 2026

What this website is measured against, what falls short of it today, and how to tell us when something stops you. The list below is our own, and it is the real one — we would rather publish the defects than claim a conformance we have not earned.

What we aim at

We hold puffy.pet to WCAG 2.2 at level AA. That is the level EN 301 549 points European law at, and the level the European Accessibility Act has expected of consumer services since 28 June 2025.

We do not currently meet it. The next section says where, on which page, and what we intend to do about each one.

This statement covers the website. The Puffy iOS app is a separate product and is not assessed here.

What does not conform today

One thing, with the criterion it fails and where it stands.

  • White text over the photograph on the About page. The heading and the line under it are white on a picture of the sky, and where the cloud behind them is brightest they measure 1.03:1 and 1.04:1 — measured against the photograph's own pixels, not estimated. Both need far more than that: 3:1 for the heading, which is large enough to qualify, and 4.5:1 for the line below it. That is SC 1.4.3 (Contrast, Minimum), and it is the plainest failure on the site. We tried the obvious fix on 9 September 2026 — darkening the sky behind the text — and took it back out the same day, because at the strength the numbers demand the photograph stops being a photograph. The fix is still open. The two candidates left are to move the copy off the brightest part of the picture, or to set it on something of its own, and neither has been chosen yet — so this stays on the list until one of them ships.

Fixed on 9 September 2026, and recorded here because this page said otherwise for a while: body links on the legal pages measure 6.03:1, not the 2.1:1 this page used to claim; the grey text it listed is now 4.74:1 everywhere, including the journal cards, which were in fact 1.73:1 rather than the 3.4:1 stated; Escape returns focus to the button it came from; and every page now opens with a skip link. The photo strip described here until today is not on the site — it has never had its photographs — so there was nothing to fail.

Fixed the same day: the row of feature cards in the header does not move on its own any more. It used to advance every three seconds, and this page listed it under SC 2.2.2 (Pause, Stop, Hide) because nothing on the page could stop it. The timer is gone — the criterion applies to motion that starts by itself, and none of it does now. The row moves when you move it: the arrows, the dots under it, dragging a card with the pointer, and — on a touch screen — a swipe. While we were there we found a second thing this page got wrong: it described a carousel of quotes changing every six seconds, and that carousel is not on the site — it is written but switched off, for want of quotes we can actually attribute. Like the photo strip, it could not have failed anything.

If a barrier you hit is not on that list, it is missing because we did not find it, not because we decided it did not matter.

How this was assessed

Reviewed on 9 September 2026 by the people who build the site, by measurement rather than by reading the previous version of this page — which is how four of its seven claims turned out to be wrong. This is a self-assessment. No external body has audited puffy.pet, and nobody has certified it.

What we did: ran automated checks over the main pages, walked the interactive parts with a keyboard, measured every contrast figure above against the actual images and colours rather than estimating them, and read the source for anything that moves on its own or moves focus.

  • Not tested with a screen reader — VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS have all yet to be pointed at this site.
  • Not tested with voice control, switch access or screen magnification.
  • Automated tools find a minority of accessibility problems. The rest need a person, and in our case that person has not been a disabled one.

We would rather write that down than let the numbers above imply more rigour than they have.

Telling us about a barrier

Email help@puffy.pet with "Accessibility" in the subject, or call +1 (737) 600-8266. Either reaches a person, not a queue.

What helps: the page, what you were trying to do, what stopped you, and — if you are using one — which browser and which assistive technology. A screenshot or a recording is welcome and never required.

What to expect: we acknowledge within three business days, come back with an assessment within ten, and give you an honest date for the fix rather than a comfortable one. If something on this site is unusable for you and the fix is weeks away, ask and we will get you the same information another way.

We are a small team. Sometimes the honest answer is that a fix sits behind three other things. You will get that answer rather than silence.

If our answer is not good enough

Tell us first if you can — most of this is fixable in one email, and we would rather hear it from you than from a regulator.

If that does not resolve it and you live in the European Union, the European Accessibility Act gives you somewhere else to go. Each member state names its own market surveillance and enforcement authority, and you can complain to the one in your country of residence. Ask us and we will point you at the right body for your country rather than leave you to find it.

Nothing here limits any right you have under national or EU law.

When this page changes

The date at the top moves when the content does. An entry leaves the list above in the same change that ships its fix, and a barrier you report that we can reproduce is added to it whether or not we have fixed it yet.
